Maremma Natural Park

The Maremma Natural Park extends not far from Castiglione della Pescaia and offers countless trails to explore its characteristic rich diversity of plants and wildlife. It's a protected area covered by lush Mediterranean scrub ideal for hiking or cycling, where you can spot different species of local fauna.

Casa Rossa Ximenes

Casa Rossa was built during the reclamation of the Castiglione della Pescaia marsh and is a historic building located in the Diaccia Botrona Nature Reserve. It offers guided tours and educational activities for families interested in learning more about nature and the local history.
Today home to an amazing multimedia museum guiding visitors on an exploration of the reserve, its panoramic terrace is particularly popular as a birdwatching site. You can observe dozens of water birds, including the beautiful pink flamingo.

Roselle Archaeological Park

An archaeological site offering a fascinating dive into Etruscan and Roman history, with well-preserved remains and educational tours for all ages. The park also organizes archaeological educational workshops for children, allowing them to approach the world of archaeology through practical and engaging experiences.

Medieval villages

From Roccamare you can easily reach Buriano, a town dominated by a Roman castle overlooking the northern part of the Grosseto plain and the ancient lake Prile. Further on you'll find Montepescali, dubbed as "the balcony of Maremma" for its panoramic view. Perched on top of a hill, it's surrounded by medieval walls and characteristic fourteenth-century buildings.
